Last time we dropped in on Generic Man, the happily unattached gent had set up a general store on the outskirts of town. Wingtips and all, it was the bachelor’s life for him.
Until he met his sole mates, anyway.
Handcrafted in a factory with 100 years of men’s bespoke cobblering, Generic Man’s new shoes for girls share the same low-pro style and highbrow craftsmanship philosophy.
And what a good-looking group: Academy, a sporty gum-soled suede trainer; Shoreman, a rubber-soled seafaring bootie; Naval, a lace-up or slip-on canvas derby; and classic oxfords like patent-leather Savant and tidy toe-capped Tuxman.
Tomorrow they debut at Space 15 Twenty’s pop-up shop, curated specially for the occasion.
Stop by. You might just meet the perfect pair.
Available at Mohawk General Store, 1102 Mohawk Street, between Elsinore Street and Sunset Boulevard, Echo Park (213-484-8162 or mohawkgeneralstore.net); Generic Man Pop-Up, inside Space 15 Twenty, 1520-1542 North Cahuenga Boulevard, between Sunset Boulevard and Selma Avenue, Hollywood (space15twenty.com). Pop-up opening party, Saturday, 7-10 p.m.
