Getting oiled up has left you none too pleased (see sunburn, breakout, and Fast Sammy for details).
Kirk Shinmoto could change that. Counting John Singer Sargent and the great illustrators of the 20th century among his influences, the young artist’s quick oil portraits and drawings are at once classic and current (not to mention affordable).
Commission one and arrive at his Montrose studio picture ready. Once situated, you’ll sit for twenty minutes at a time, taking short breaks in between. Five hours later, you and you-on-canvas will be ready to roll.
Though Shinmoto prefers working from a live model (what would you expect from an Art Center student who also happens to be a teacher at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art?), you can also drop by for a quick sketch and photo sesh, and he’ll work from there.
Hey, he’s real slick.
