Bungalow Ate

Larchmont Bungalow Cafe Opens

larchmont bungalow!

No, the pink bunnies weren’t real. Neither was the singing apple trio.

But the red velvet pancakes in front of your face are — cream-cheesy whipped cream, maple syrup, and all.

You’re also in your pajama pants in the middle of Larchmont Bungalow. (No, not the patio or back by the fireplace. At the counter up front.)

Luckily, everyone inside the ecorenovated, organic- and sustainability minded eatery is too busy quaffing coffee; drooling over the all-day breakfast menu (veggie Benedict, please), salads, burgers, crepes, and other lunch and dinner offerings (tuna melt? fish and chips?); and ogling the dessert case of layer cakes and cookies.

Anyone who’s not? Well, the small-batch coffee roaster in the corner should distract them once it gets going on a custom blend.

Hopefully long enough for you to sneak out the back door.

It's amazing all the negativity. The only decent people in this world are those that went above the "what's normal" and "what's usual" and did something that is going to have a positive affect in an area. The Larchmont Village needed something like this! I think this place is a perfect add. Before you make such rude and wild accusations and then decide to not show up, why don't you go see for yourself. Check out the Cafe and the food and don't let opinions taint your feelings about a new restaurant! Myself and 6 friends are looking forward to eating there on Saturday! Thanks to Daily Candy and Bungalow Cafe they've given us a good reason to head over to Larchmont Village for the first time in a very very long time!

@awgyetvan- get a life! seriously! you are a lawyer thats a 'lotsaLOSER' you need to wake up - perhaps a cup of coffee at the Bungalow.??? In the mentime- be nice to your loved ones...

@allisonchewy, you need to turn off your caps lock. It's the equivalent of shouting in a civilized conversation. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, and who welcomes locally-owned businesses, I find that I cannot support this place for two reasons: 1) it's in violation of the law, and the developer signed a covenant with the city and announced in the media that he would comply with the law, then proceeded to flout it; 2) the owners have installed an illegal valet parking operation in a busy alley that opens to a very congested street. If Mr. Mizrahi and the restaurant owners had seen fit to work with the neighborhood, all might have been well, but now I'm afraid the restaurant is in for a rough ride. Lotsa lawyers in Larchmont, and they're pissed off. Unfortunate for the owners.

The Bungalow is exactly what Larchmont has needed. Up until this point there have been rumors of large multinationals coming to the street, and the Bungalow contradicts everything said by a small, selfish group who has spread these vile rumors and attacked creative entrepreneurship and the creation of jobs in these times of economic hardship. I've eaten at the Bungalow several times already and am addicted to everything from the Mexican hamburger to the sea bass to the double chocolate chip cookies. This establishment is like the living room that Larchmont needs.

ummmm. excuse me, but last I remember the Bungalow is not a corporate chain of any kind. This is owned by two young guys who are starting a career. This other man you speak of has no affiliation. how do you people compare this with Blockbuster Video or Starbucks...? I COMPARE THIS RESTAURANT WITH EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. I PRIVATE YOUNG TWO TALENTED GUYS THAT KNOW WHAT THE PUBLIC WANTS. CAFE DU VILLAGE IS NOT MAKING IT BECAUSE YOU DONT SUPPRT THEM. THE HARDWARE STORE DIDNT MAKE IT BECAUSE OF THE SAME REASON. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOUR FACTS BITE YOU IN THE....

I ate here before I knew who owned it. But on principal can't go back. Larchmont is a neighborhood where you know all the local shop keepers and they know you. Or at least it used to be. Good people and good businesses are being forced out for one man to line his pockets. Cafe Du Village is a perfect example and I'm sure more of our favorites will follow. If you support small business owners, you'll cross your fingers and hope someone else in town puts red velvet pancakes on the menu. If the neighborhood keeps supporting this man we'll have nothing but a street of Starbucks and Pinkberries in the very near future. What's special about that?

wow, who let the crazy in... i guess i am a "weirdo person" too as i agree with the other commenters on supporting local businesses over corporations and keeping the integrity of our neighborhoods. if we aren't careful we will lose more of these small local businesses, like Cafe Du Village, that make this huge metropolis of LA feel less like a city and more like home.

THIS IS THE KIND OF PLACE LARCHMONT BLVD NEEDS. FINALLY, A DELICIOUS AND MOST PRESERVED PLACE EXISTS WITH DELICIOUS FOOD...WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT ? THEY MUST HATE STARBUCKS AND BLOCKBUSTER? WHAT A BUNCH OF WEIRDO COMMENTS FROM WEIRDO PEOPLE...I THINK, AND SO DO ALL MY FRIENDS, BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO EAT IN LOS ANGELES. THE BREAKFAST IS AMAZING AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS EVEN BETTER...THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE IT! YOU CAN SIT IN 5 OR 6 DIFFERENT SETTINGS AND THERE IS THE NICEST FIREPLACE AND ROCKING MUSIC! WELCOME LARCHMONT BUNGALOW! ITS A PLEASURE HAVING YOU IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD!YOU ROCK!

I was in the neighborhood while I saw this new restaurant. Since I love seeing new places open I thought I would check out this one. Right when I walked in I knew I was going to order something. The food was delicious. I really recommend it to anyone that is looking for a home-like, stylish place with great food. And the service was great. When I was done I couldn't resist one of their Chocolate Chip cookies.

Thanks! Good to know. I was all set to visit but will not on principle. I agree with you . I hate the way Larchmont has been changing. I knew it was the beginning of the end when Blockbuster opened on the street.
