The Perfect Formula

bloom & plume bouquet!

It all started with good chemistry. Now all you need to do is nail down the elements.

Bloom & Plume is Maurice Harris’s genius idea. The floral designer’s flair for lavish drama mixed with his quirky, postmodern sensibility makes for exuberant bouquets, headpieces, and arrangements bursting with petals, feathers, and surprises like pyrite. He’s also good at just plain old gorgeous.

maemae paperie!

Invites by MaeMae Paperie will grab their attention. Megan Gonzalez channels 1950s graphics, textile patterns, hand-drawn illustrations, and screen-printed layers into bespoke suites (we like multipanel and oversize formats). There’s a print-it-yourself option or she does it for you.

Finally, a dress that will mellow out your ladies in waiting. Choose the signature Twobirds Bridesmaid dress in one of eighteen colors and four lengths at the recently opened West Hollywood boutique. Let the bridal party decide which of the fifteen possible ways they want to wear it.

bash eco events!

Kelly Harris and Paige Appel are a party of two. Harris brings her CuppieLove baking skills, Succulent Love flower powers, and Yes, Please graphic design to Appel’s high-style, green-minded Bash Eco Events. Together they are called BashPlease and provide full-service planning and coordination for any size wedding or party.

If you’re feeling less altar and more alternative, Ceremonies of Grace can make it official. Through a series of interviews and many edits, Gina Zimmerman works with couples to create a service that reflects their personalities and beliefs, whether serious or silly. She’ll even lead day-of yoga or meditation.

enjoy cupcakes!

Adding a bit of local character to the festivities is a piece of cake — technically, a cupcake served by Enjoy Cupcakes out of its refurbed Shasta trailer. Known for nods to Central Cal wine culture, such as chocolate blackberry syrah or olallie berry rosé, it offers more than 160 palate-pleasers and will customize recipes as well.

bonnie tsang!

High-tech but refreshingly low-key, Bonnie Tsang will set up any shot you want but likes to keep things casual, capturing events as they unfold. The only evidence you’ll have that she was ever there will be the honest photographs she’ll deliver.

After it’s all over, take a much-needed breather at Costa Careyes. A three-hour flight and an hour north in a rental car gets you to this tony secluded beach town where private bungalows and casitas start at $240 a night and fully staffed villas and castles fall in the $2,000-$7,000 range.

Now get the lead out.
