Cirque School Workout Classes

With beach weather imminently upon us, there is no time to clown around about getting in shape.

Step into the ring at Cirque School. Inside Pilates instructor/Cirque du Soleil veteran Aloysia Gavre’s 6,000-square-foot industrial space, each class combines a variety of circus arts with full-body fitness workouts, bracketed by a cardio warm-up to sweat-worthy boom box beats and an intense kick-your-booty Pilates cooldown.

Tumble into the Acro-Fit class and learn basic acrobatic skills, then hang on the trapeze in the Aerial Fitness and Conditioning class. If all that gravity defying stresses you out, unwind in the 90-minute Flexibility and Stretch class. Skill workshops teach you to juggle something other than your iPhone, coffee, and car keys. And there’s no audience passing judgment; the instructors bend over backward to ensure a safe, educational, and encouraging environment.

Sessions go for practically peanuts ($20 and up) and are available for enrollment online. Take an open mind and plenty of water and you might find the greatest workout on earth.
