the beer chicks!

You’re getting warmer.

Class with The Beer Chicks
Treat the old man to a Dad’s Day gift he’ll actually enjoy. He’ll learn ales from lagers, how to select the perfect brewski, food pairings, and more.
No one pays attention on an empty beer belly. Fill Big Poppa up with perfectly suited craft brews (double IPAs, sour Belgians).
When: Sat., noon-2 p.m.
Where: Rustic Canyon Wine Bar, 1119 Wilshire Blvd., b/t Eleventh & Twelfth Sts., Santa Monica. Tickets ($45) online at thebeerchicks.com.

La Guera Tamalera at Cafecito Organico

What: Cruise by the back patio for artisanal tamales made with locally sourced, organic ingredients. The vegan (sesame-kale or strawberry), veggie (blue corn, jalapeno, and cheese), and meat (chicken or pork) snacks contain no lard, trans fats, or gluten.
Why: Artisanal flavors but a muy autentico technique: The owner learned her craft from a family from Veracruz.
When: Sat., 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (Also June 26.)
Where: 534 N. Hoover St., b/t Melrose Ave. & Middlebury St., Silver Lake. To pre-order or for delivery, call 213-880-0277 or e-mail info@gttamales.com by 3 p.m. the day before.

Why: All proceeds benefit the rehabilitation and medical refuge center that currently houses 62 Simbas and Nalas.
When: June 26, 5-10 p.m. Get tickets ($250) now.

Sloane Crosley Reading and Signing
Hear from the young author’s new tome, How Did You Get This Number, a humorous collection of personal essays that covers ground from NYC to Portugal and back again.
Why: The same humor as her well-received debut, I Was Told There’d Be Cake, but with a more layered and mature point of view.
