Mustaches are so 2009. This Halloween, it’s all about the beard.
Not just for hipsters or lumberjacks, local artist Erin Dollar of I Made You a Beard has created scruffy options for clever costumes ranging from kid favorites (pirates, Vikings) to old standards (Abe Lincoln, Sherlock Holmes) and even the more obscure (Charles Darwin, anyone?). Our favorite idea: a whole family of garden gnomes.
The beards are handmade of soft yarn with felt backings, cotton linings, and simple grosgrain ribbons to tie them on. Dollar will even whip up a custom one for your mini if nothing fits your plan. And you thought you had years before facial hair.
Available online at imadeyouabeard.etsy.com, $18-$40.
