It was the best of times. It was the wurst of times. It was the opening of Grindhaus.
Inside the Hollywood Boulevard shop, four friends from Philly are cranking out savory links and shelving homemade pantry goods like pickled vegetables, mustards, sauerkraut, confit, and stocks.
Try the classic breakfast spiked with Marash chili pepper or doggie-bag a pound of the duck sausage with semisweet chocolate and dried tart cherries. The boar brat stands out with red wine and juniper berries, and even a fried chicken sausage is in the works. Vegetarians and vegans can get with root vegetable, lentil, and white bean varieties made with specialty ingredients from Silver Lake’s Spice Station.
For additional heat, the spicy Pabst-glazed caramelized onion and Stone Porter smoked-bacon mustards are a must.
Take that, beefcake.
