Despite all the expectant joy, you’re a prisoner in your own bloated body.
Here are four ways to escape when pregnancy starts to feel like doing hard time.
Get Off Your Feet
The therapeutic Baby Boomer package at DTox Day Spa (3206 Los Feliz Boulevard, between I-5 and Glenfeliz Boulevard; 323-665-3869) includes a 50-minute rebalancing and hydrating facial and 50-minute soothing massage (with special focus on swollen feet). Top it off with a take-home Erbaviva cream to battle the enemy that is stretch marks. Package is $240.
Bring In Hired Guns
When your nesting instinct goes haywire (hello, roller coaster of emotions) call Melanie Monroe of Eco Baby Planning (323-359-6007). Monroe helps you prepare as much (or as little) as you need — from registry setup to doula referrals and postpartum support. Best part: Her services and recommendations are always earth friendly. Packages start at $300 or $75 per hour.
Take a Shot
Forget the lumps, bumps, and dark circles, Christine DeHaven Photography (310-929-0363) helps you see a happy glow. With natural poses and creative styling, the warm and inviting pregnancy shoots are the way you want to remember baby’s time on the inside. Two-hour session, $250; includes $75 credit toward prints.
Can’t. Face. The. World. An at-home massage from Sarah Greene (310-849-0530) should do the trick. The former doula specializes in pregnancy and postnatal bodywork and will even visit your hospital room for a postbirth rubdown ($100 per hour).
Leaving you refreshed and ready for the sleepless nights ahead.
