Land ho!
Son of a Gun has officially dropped anchor on Third Street. The latest venture from Animal’s Vinny Dotolo and Jon Shook brings a taste of the Eastern seaboard and beyond to our shores.
Filled with nautical flea market finds and the chefs’ family treasure chests, the galley-inspired space already has old salty dog charm. Walk-ins duel for the communal table; reservations unwind along the well-worn leather banquette. Earn your sea legs tossing back stiff boat drinks (shaken pina coladas, fish-house punch) at a cigar humidor that gets a second life as a bar.
Expect share plates like smoked fish dip, peel-and-eat shrimp, and a rotating oyster selection. Timeless dishes like spaghetti with clam sauce get a boost from uni aglio olio. Landlubbers go for country ham served with cornbread or local lettuce with pepato cheese, while only a scallywag would pass up deconstructed Key lime pie with house-churned frozen yogurt.
There’s plenty to lure you in.
