Good Sport
Cricket comes to L.A.

The other day, this bunch of very stylish chicks were seen driving to the Valley. (No, really.) For a men’s sporting event. (Seriously.) An all-day men’s sporting event. (The Candy doesn’t lie.)
Shocking, we know. But this is no ordinary sport. This involves 22 well-behaved blokes in head-to-toe white with charming accents sipping tea between bursts of vigorous activity.
Cricket, mate. It’s here in a big way. And it’s about time American men learned the game. Admittedly, the rules seem complicated. From what we can tell, it involves an exceedingly hard red ball, no physical protection to speak of, and words that roll off the tongue like “wicketkeeper” and “bowlander.” A match can take almost an entire day. But there are lots of breaks (love breaks!), the kind with beverages (love beverages!). We’ve even heard rumors of gin-and-tonics. If you’re going to play a sport, this is the way to do it.
And what can we say? We like to watch.
