Joyce Macrae Antiques & Design

joyce macrae!

Decades ago minimalists and modernists made a pilgrimage to our great land (that would be L.A.) to build Neutra houses and sell white paintings.

Consequently, the folks of this region became fluent in the language of Plexiglas and cube chairs — but forgot to let in (and live with) a little history.

Old-world enthusiasts, fret not: Joyce MacRae Antiques & Design is here to help with the finishing touches that whisper “this grandfather clock has been in the family for centuries.”

Style veteran MacRae earned her stripes as an editor at Vogue and House & Garden before becoming the ultimate source for decorators and collectors. Mod snobs will be shaking in their Gucci mandals for the Tony Duquette estate pieces (red lacquered tables that nest atop of one another). And the handsome 1920s-1940s wicker furniture, as well as the collection of botanical prints, carpets, and estate silver, is available at the lowest prices in town. Providing the perfect opportunity for antiquity newbies to test the waters.

Because sometimes, to get in touch with the past, you have to look beyond your own history.

Joyce MacRae Antiques & Design, 415 1/2 Westmount Drive, between Melrose Avenue and Beverly Boulevard, West Hollywood (310-360-6822).
