This Little Piggy Went to Market
Auntie Em’s Market Place Opens

Think globally, act locally. That’s totally your motto.
Mail marked “par avion” always goes out from your local post office. Your iPod plays the latest British imports.
But instead of dreaming about Phuket while waiting for your pad Thai, why not think locally and act locally, too?
Start at Auntie Em’s Market Place. Opening today in Eagle Rock, the gourmet shop is an extension of owner/chef Terri Wahl’s restaurant next door. Known for seasonal menus of local vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, and baked goods, Wahl is all about supporting West Coast farmers and creameries. Point Reyes Preserves, Frog Hollow Farms, and Cowgirl Creamery are just a few of the all-natural brands specially tapped for her shelves. A signature line of fresh frozen foods — including soups, chilis, and potpies — will also be available for the first time.
Aside from food to go, fresh bakery items, artisanal cheeses, candies, and fancy condiments, they’ve stocked the shelves with cookbooks, glassware, Jonathan Adler Happy Home tableware, Rosanna china, and lots of other kitcheny greatness.
Proof, as Auntie Em would, no doubt, agree, that there’s no place like home.
Auntie Em’s Market Place, 4616 Eagle Rock Boulevard, at Corliss Street, Eagle Rock (323-255-0800 or auntieemskitchen.com).
