BabaKul Jewelry

snap! snap!

Spotlight on a single mic. A beatnik chick in black beret with a lit cigarette takes the stage.

I call this piece “Jewel Are We.” (She clears her throat as she unfolds a piece of notebook paper.)

Jewel. Cool. Like BabaKul, man. Hammered. Brushed. Scratched. (She claws the air.) They take their gold and silver and they turn it into other things, man.

Like bracelets, pendants, and cocktail rings. And like I said, other things. (She stomps her ciggie.)

Jewel. Cool. Like BabaKul, man. Stars. Flowers. Moons. Peace. (She throws hand signs.) Cut out of precious metals, stamped, and sometimes hard to find, man.

Like you can’t even see them right away. Check the checkerboard-cut colored quartz. (She pogos.)

Jewel. Cool. Like cool, Babakul, man.

You dig?

Audience erupts in snapplause.
