Timing Is Everything
The Echo Park Time Travel Mart and 826LA

You long for a place where penny-farthings and Segways can live in perfect harmony.
Well, in a few weeks, The Echo Park Time Travel Mart will open its doors. A front for 826LA’s new writing lab location, you’ll find Nature’s Tiny Doctors Leeches from the past alongside Aeon Bottled Time from the future, recently published student work like The Elotes Man Will Soon Be Gone by John Marshall High School students, and timeless T-shirts with the shop’s logo (fast-forward and rewind buttons) or a signature graphic (a Neanderthal shaking hands with a robot, of course).
Can’t wait to show your support? Sign up to volunteer. The nonprofit could really use some help with their drop-in tutoring programs, workshops, and in-school aid, among other things.
Besides, there’s no time like the present.
The Echo Park Time Travel Mart and 826LA Writing Lab, 1714 Sunset Boulevard, between Lemoyne and Logan Streets, Echo Park (310-305-8418 or 826la.org). To volunteer, e-mail iwanttohelp@826la.org.
