Worth the Weight
Atlanta
August 19, 2009

The weight of the world is resting on your shoulders.

If by “world” you mean the large pizza you took down last night and by “shoulders” you mean thighs.

Good thing the mind-body connection is one of Andrew Johnston’s specialties.

The former pro cyclist’s new training loft plays home to his holistic approach. Go deeper than mandatory stuff (like a food journal and lifestyle questionnaire) with body balance checks and a looksie at his dual-sided scale. (FYI: Past injuries, bad posture, and posing like a Hollywood starlet leave most people heavier on one side.)

There are plenty of reasons to train inside (polymetric boxes, Wi-Fi, and filtered tap and shower water), but Johnston advocates “taking your shoes off and working out in the grass” just as much as Bosu Ball squats and reps.

Just your kind of paradigm shift.
