Against the Grain
Atlanta
October 23, 2009

We’ll resist the urge to write asinine wood jokes and cut to the chase.

Ryan Fitch’s new furniture and goods gallery will make lumber design enthusiasts very (very) happy to see him.

Duck into the foliage-covered collective for fresh scratch from a dozen designers. Like James Wiggins’s delightfully modular, Macassar ebony veneer and poplar-core plywood shelving units. And Benjie Osborne’s romantic, tree-emblazoned cutting boards and doohickey storage boxes. Not to mention a host of other items (skeleton grandfather clocks, sleek console tables, restored cabriole-leg chairs, and Fitch’s own letter-block sculptures) amid the grin-worthy, granular goodness.

What’s more, Fitch has set up shop (and a notched, tool-covered work table) front and center, so visitors can watch him in action.

Don’t knock it ’till you try it.
