Salt of the Earth

November 18, 2009

You try not to get your hopes up for things that just fell off the truck.

But who’s not a sucker for five-buck veggie banh mi service with a smile?

That’s just what you’ll get at Farm Cart, Farm 255’s new cash-only front patio lunch operation.

A sneak peek at the menu reveals a beef and pork meatloaf sandwich with black pepper aioli, parsley, and pickled peppers; broccoli soup with buttered croutons; and house-made sausage with caramelized onion, cheddar, and Dijon. All ring in at $6 or less.

Dishes like tortilla espagnole with potatoes, onions, and sweet peppers; and cabbage and Arkansas black apple salad with radish, smoked almonds, and buttermilk dressing will rotate weekly according to what looks best at source farms like Full Moon.

Oh, yeah. We’re tooting their horn.
