You’re Turning Violet, Violet
Chicago
July 14, 2008

Blacking out is so high school. But still, it happens.

When it does, you must piece together your evening using a trail of text messages and stains.

Violet Hour cocktails are unforgettable. We asked mixologist/magician Toby Maloney to scheme up a DailyCandy summer drink — one you can make at home, preferably without potions or eyedroppers. The resulting cool, fruity cocktail? The 41 Jane Doe.

Ingredients
¾ oz. Laird’s Applejack
¾ oz. Poire William pear liqueur
¾ oz. simple syrup
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
1 egg white
Soda water

1. Shake first five ingredients without ice to aerate.

2. Add ice and shake again.

3. Strain over new ice into a Collins glass.

4. Top with soda water.

5. Garnish with a pear wedge.

Thanks for the memories.
