Speakeasy Does It
Miami
October 14, 2009

You’ve been standing around all year wearing your flapper headband and sipping a classic cocktail — with no proper place to go.

But tomorrow Miami finally jumps on the speakeasy bandwagon with the opening of Bardot.

The lounge, designed for sophisticates and their artsy brethren, comes to you from Amir Ben-Zion, the gent behind faves like Bond St. and Sra. Martinez.

The hush-hush hipster spot has no address — instead dwelling behind an unmarked red awning in Wynwood (where else?). Before 9 p.m., Bardot serves nibbles both salty and sweet. But the main event is the entertainment: music, performance art, and burlesque along with screenings of cultural events like political debates.

Expect nostalgic decor like vintage sofas with faux fur throws, a Baldwin piano, and a library with an antique chessboard, backgammon, and an old-fashioned pool table.

Right on cue.
