Magnitude of Ten
New York
October 06, 2009

A funny thing happened on the way to our in-box.

We felt the rumblings of a city at work.

There to measure the seismic data is Nonsense NYC, an underground yet high-flying weekly newsletter recording the city’s most bizarre and special happenings.

Editor Jeff Stark has been compiling info for ten years straight. This weekend, he’s going offline for a live, homegrown spectacle (in a Brooklyn warehouse, of course) showcasing the best of the indie creative scene.

To combat a decade of nostalgia, party people will give us a peek at what we can look forward to ten years from now. Unique performances will happen every five minutes. What else to expect: Mini Rubulad, Secret Project Robot, Sxip’s Quarter Hour of Charm, DJs, dance floors, and curiosities.

At the very least, it will be fun, crowded, gritty. (Alert: Expect a hint of urban Burning Man.) At the most, we’ll get to see what culture looks like when it’s being created.

Brace yourself for the quake.

Nonsense NYC Presents Ten, October 10, 7 p.m.-4 a.m., at 3rd Ward, 195 Morgan Avenue, at Stagg Street, Bushwick. For information and tickets, go to nonsensenyc.com.
