Dear Mother Earth,

Yeah, it’s me: The girl who cried “compost.” And “I’ll bike commute!” But this time, I come armed with promises, products, and hopes for redemption.

I swear to make better use of local purveyors, starting with the new Good Food Market, where local items like Bell & Evans chickens and Di Bruno Brothers cheese await, along with prepared foods from an in-house chef.

I promise to be more like designer Mike Iannone, whose furnishings are ecofriendly, locally sourced, and made from reclaimed materials. I will cut out the importer and browse Iannone Design’s Kensington showroom for a new chest of drawers.

I attest that the only bottled water I buy will be from White Dog Cafe’s new in-house filtering system. It comes still or bubbly in cute, reusable glass liters with porcelain stoppers.

I guarantee that I will wear Bus Stop boutique’s new boots by Terra Plana, with accents from repurposed Pakistani quilts and low-impact materials. With fall’s little ankle booties, I assure you I’ll make earth shoes fashionable.

And finally, all future thoughts will be written in an Ecojot notebook, made from 100 percent recycled materials and purchased at Hana & Posy.

Now you have my word.
