Washington witch hunts usually involve burning bills at the stake on the House floor.

For an even eerier inquisition, track down Andrew Wodzianski. The local artist created a scavenger hunt in conjunction with House, his new exhibition inspired by the campy horror film House on Haunted Hill.

Tomorrow at the witching hour of midnight, the artist will tweet the first of five clues in a month-long series of fright-filled hunts. Sharing details would kill the fun, but prepare to travel near and far, high and low to some of his favorite haunts.

The winner of each mini hunt will receive a goodie casket with prizes, including a free painting from the show. The festivities end with a giant costume party, two DJs, and cocktails themed around the film.

Which could become a heated joint session.

To sleuth paintings, follow twitter.com/househuntdc. House, The Gallery at Flashpoint, 916 G Street NW, between 9th and 10th Streets (202-315-1310 or flashpointdc.org). Opening reception, tomorrow, 6-8 p.m. Costume party, October 30, 9 p.m.-midnight.
