What’s in a name?
If you’re lucky, a few good drinks. That’s what Daniel Milewski’s hoping for with the opening of his new Wynwood magazine shop and watering hole, Lester’s (after the middle name he shares with his dad).
The concept is a nod to old-fashioned newspaper agents but with a modern twist — an artsy congregation of bookworms, new releases, booze, design items, and events.
Lester’s carries — along with craft beers, wine, coffee, and snacks (warm empanadas, crumb cakes, biscotti) — hard-to-find publications like the literary journal n+1, The Exhibitionist from Germany, and girly mag Jacques. It will also be the only place outside New York to carry The Brooklyn Rail (the publisher gave a talk at the shop earlier this month). You can also pick up notebooks and fancy pens.
Communal tables (crafted by the owner), an L-shaped bar, a lounge, and free Wi-Fi make for a homey environment.
And a source of family pride.
