Houseplants gone to pot (again)? Time to give City Plants the green light.
Botanically blessed husband-and-wife team Thomas Fennell and Susan Stern offer in-home consultations during which they assess your surroundings (light, temperature, placement) and suggest ideal bloomers ($7-$300) for your abode. The owners of the quaint Midtown interior landscaping shop then arrange the scene and show you how best to nurture Mother Nature.
Their secret weapon? Lechuza self-watering planters. Using wicks, reservoirs, and indicators, the planters, which range in height from 7 to 37 inches and come in many colors, make over- and underhydrating your new foliage friends virtually impossible. (Monthly maintenance is still available for those who would rather leave plants in the hands of pros.)
Better get growing.
City Plants, 3529 Northeast 2nd Avenue (305-573-1101 or cityplantsusa.com), consultation, $75 (which goes toward your order); maintenance starts at $50 per month.
