Middle Eastern flavors move to Los Feliz

Blood pudding, bishop’s nose (look it up), roasted crickets — not all ethnic dishes translate.

But doner kebabs (Middle Eastern sandwiches or wraps made from slow-cooked meat on rotating spits) speak the international language of cheap, easy, and delicious.

For the best in town, head to Spitz, the new Los Feliz outpost of the popular Eagle Rock-based restaurant bringing the late-night fare into a beer garden milieu (accordion windows, vintage shuffleboard on the patio).

Order a sandwich or wrap and choose from dressings like Street Cart (garlic aioli, fried lavish chips), Mediterranean (hummus, kalamata olives, feta), and Zesty (pepperoncinis, zesty feta).

Sides like fried pita with hummus and doquitos (kebabs meet taquitos) along with a portfolio of twelve craft beers and sangria made from house-infused syrups (lemon grass, ginger) prevent you from leaving hungry (and sober).

Thankfully, designated driver is a well-known phrase in these parts.
