For some, November is prime time for turkey and pumpkin-spiced everything. For bivalve lovers like us, dropping temps mean slip-and-slide season.
Mark the start at L&W Oyster Co., opening tomorrow in NoMad.
The seafood joint from the folks behind Almond blends East End casual (whitewashed booths and reclaimed wood, mason jar chandelier on a pulley, industrial fixtures and signs salvaged from Maine) with serious eats.
Snack on house-made goldfish crackers before knocking back oysters from both coasts (Long Island Hog’s Necks, Widow’s Holes, and Montauk Pearls), chilled lobster cocktail, and peekytoe crab salad (we licked the dish).
Come dinner, tackle the menu as a team with help from local wines (Channing Daughters, Paumanok Vineyards) on tap. Order the raw and roasted Brussels sprouts Caesar, lightly fried ahi wontons with soy mint dip, and spicy lobster BLT on challah slices grilled with clarified lobster butter.
We’ll be back for slurpy seconds.
