Your childhood indulgences — from glue sticks to Pixy Stix — had you hopped up.
For a less literal sugar high, get your tail to Bunnie Cakes.
Inside the homey new Wynwood bakery, owner Mariana Cortez sells organic, vegan, and gluten-free treats using riffs on recipes passed down from her grandma.
Cupcakes (mini and regular size) and cakes (just give 24 hours’ notice) are available in 26 flavors, from traditional (vanilla, carrot cake, Dulce No Leche) to less conventional (passion fruit, pink lemonade, mojito).
Brownies, donuts, cookies, gelato, and milk shakes round out the menu. Vintage dishes make the experience even sweeter.
As for secret ingredients, Cortez swears by applesauce, coconut milk, and flaxseed.
We’re all ears.
Bunnie Cakes, 2322 Northeast Second Avenue (786-268-9790 or bunniecakes.com), $2-$80. One week notice is required for orders serving 150 or more.
