Snack Healthily at The Market

Local, good-for-you eats in Coral Gables

the market!

You start your day with a bang (egg whites on multigrain); midday, your healthy eating goes bust.

Stop cravings in their tracks at The Market, a healthy new spot in Coral Gables.

Frustrated with a lack of fast (but good-for-you) food options, natives Diana Aquino and Glenn Rice (a trained chef) joined forces. Their shop — part juice bar, part grocer — emphasizes local producers and organic ingredients.

In the kitchen, Rice whips up sandwiches such as tangy tuna and pickled green papaya on Zak the Baker bread. Grab-and-go delicacies include organic mushroom-mozzarella empanadas and spinach and feta souffles. Stock your shelves with Flavor Fusion jams and jellies, Simply Sharon’s cookies, and Laurie’s Pantry granola.

Healthy sips include cold-pressed veggie and fruit drinks, plus a made-to-order shake of the day.

That should keep your engine running.
