Savvy spenders know how to have a ball

You know how to blow a stack of cash in style, but balling on a budget kills your party vibe. Let the good times roll — and hold on to your bankroll — with ten cheap activities that are right on the money. 

1. One more reason to race out of the office: beat-the-clock happy hour drinks ($4-$6) at Swine Southern Table & Bar. Spend your hard-earned cash on discounted appetizers like two-for-$5 biscuits (fried chicken sliders) and $5 deviled eggs. Wash them down with a mighty old-fashioned.

2. Help break in a newbie at Green Monkey’s community classes, where a fresh or visiting instructor guides you through sun salutations for $9 — less than half the price of a regular session. (Miami Beach, Wed., noon-1:15 p.m.; South Miami, Mon. & Sat., noon-1:15 p.m., Sun., 6-7:15 p.m.)

3. There’s no better time to commit carbocide than Thursdays at Perricone’s Marketplace & Cafe, when the Brickell restaurant discounts its signature pastas to $10, including the mouthwatering fettuccine with sliced filet mignon, wild mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes, topped with Barolo wine sauce and goat cheese.

4. Gather round an empty barrel for Happy Wine’s free weekly tastings (Sat., noon-2 p.m.), where the flowing samples and $6 Spanish tapas make for a tasty — albeit mostly liquid — lunch.

5. Find cover from spring and summer’s compulsory rain clouds at the Coral Gables Museum (admission is $7). Bask in the Mediterranean architecture; learn the history of “The City Beautiful”; and catch a traveling exhibit such as The Glass House, a collection of large-scale photographs of the eponymous campus captured by renowned architectural photographer Robin Hill.

6. Elbow your way to the bar at The River Seafood & Oyster Bar (daily, 4:30-7 p.m.), where you’ll score the city’s best selection of half-price bivalves ($1-$1.50) from the West Coast and the Northeast, plus nightly drink specials.

7. Fifteen minutes of fame don’t come cheap, unless you’re catching back-to-back shows for $5 at the Microtheater (Thurs.-Sat., 8-11 p.m.; Sun., 7-10 p.m.), downtown Miami’s hub for Latin artists, showcasing self-penned performances that max out at fifteen minutes.

8. It’s not too late to jump on the CrossFit bandwagon. Dash to CrossFit Vida for a free introductory class (Sat., 9 a.m.), where you’ll learn scaled-down versions of typical workouts.

9. Hop on a DecoBike and explore South Beach like a tourist. Take advantage of South Florida’s only bike-sharing program and roam the hood on a neon biped ($10 for two hours).

10. Tuesdays were made for (cheap) tacos. While a number of restaurants have adopted this alliterative special, none rivals the tasty selection of meats, fish, and toppings you get at Mercadito — including the borderline legendary baja fish — for $5.50 an order (Tues., 4 p.m.-close).
