Miami Ink

FCLA Writing Classes

use your imagination!

Dear HarperCollins:

Nice work on that book about the guy and his Labrador retriever. Still, who doesn’t love dogs? And doesn’t everyone’s pooch eat a pair of underwear now and then?

The next time you need fresh ink, look no further than the creative writing course at the Florida Center for the Literary Arts. The new semester starts next week — just think of the stack of manuscripts you could have by April.

There’s a class for every walk of scribe, from children’s books and mysteries to women’s mag essays, flash fiction, and, yes, yes, memoirs (with or without Fido). Classes meet weekly for eight weeks at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, and the fee is $125. That’s about $15 a class — less than the average yoga session.

Hey, that might be your next big tell-all: Life in Downward Dog.

Talk about a bestseller.

Sincerely,
The Next Big Thing
