Fly Me to the Moon

Flyspace Aerial Dance Classes

so fly!

The lights dim. The obscure world music reaches a crescendo. You descend from the ceiling wrapped in silk, in a flurry of movement. The audience gasps.

Your foot gets caught. You have to be untangled. It’s then that you and your “audience” decide to abandon such ambitious bedroom antics and watch a movie instead.

Flyspace, a new aerial dance training facility, wants to help you get into the swing of things. In the Intro to Aerial class (no previous experience required), professional aerial dancers Ileigh Reynolds and Hannah Logan (of Animate Object Physical Theater) start students slowly on a low-hanging trapeze bar.

Meanwhile, students in Aerial One level (which requires three years of dance, gymnastics, or yoga experience) begin with trapeze work and progress to rope and silk. Hoops, harnesses, and bungee cords are reserved for those who master all of the above, which we’re sure you will.

You’ve always been known to put on a good show.

Flyspace, inside Chi Tae Kwon Do, 12122 SW 131st Avenue (786-556-6860 or ileigh@animateobjects.org).
