As Good As It Ghets

Ghetto Gourmet Comes to Town

Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone.

Unless they involve you feeling like a VIP. Then they make you as giddy as a girl eating Krispy Kremes with baby pandas.

Ghetto Gourmet, a traveling dinner party that keeps mum about its locale and menu until you R.S.V.P., thinks secrets (painless ones, of course) are fun, too.

GG started out on the living room floor of two brothers from Oakland. As it grew, they began enlisting the talents of local chefs and taking their dinners on the road, setting up relatively impromptu feasts in places like New York City, Chicago, and, now, Miami.

Since the idea is to foster an appreciation for food, community, and a do-it-yourself attitude, you’re asked to bring your own cushion (Turkish style, baby) and drinks are on you. Meaning BYOB. No points for fanciness, so go ahead, get the $6 merlot.

We’ll never tell.

To make a reservation, go to theghet.com. (Psst. Mention DailyCandy to ensure you score a seat.) Dinners take place Tuesday through Friday, 8 p.m.
