Southern hospitality, cowboy boots, sweet tea — you just couldn’t wait to get to [cowpoke college town here] and channel your inner Harper Lee.
That is, until you saw your neighbors going hunting every weekend. And Copenhagen became not a weekend jaunt but something you bought at the Piggly Wiggly.
You’ll always have those tin-can tobacco memories, but the capital of Denmark is once again a place from whence all cool things come. Cool things like Becksöndergaard’s eel skin clutches.
Partners Lis Beck and Anna Söndergaard began the line three years ago, offering three collections: small accessories, knits, and exotic skin. The latter includes simple, sophisticated clutches that’ll feel as at home in the little tea cafe as the fancy digs with the famous chef.
Each is handmade using soft, durable eel skin in vibrant hues like red, green, and yellow, plus the always versatile black. They’re priced $50 to $80, so you might just have to get one in every color.
No pressure. Just something to chew on.
Available at Scarlett, 11665 South Dixie Highway, Pinecrest (786-293-3126). To see styles, go to becksondergaard.com.
