When you’re not in the mood, a visit to the museum can be a lot like an MRI. It’s cold. You can’t talk. And even though you know you’re doing something life improving, all you can really think about are French fries.
Culture Kings wants to supersize your art experience. The new Design District boutique, which carries unique, hard-to-find sneakers and tees, invites a different local artist to take over the store each month with his/her works, be it on canvas or shoe (or both).
Through mid-March, check out Arnold Steiner (a.k.a. AS1), who’s shown during Art Basel and designed a Mos Def album cover. His black-and-white, urban-vibe work includes one-of-a-kind Vans and Adidas kicks decorated with a paint marker; high-gloss digital prints; and Bombs Away, an actual test bomb painted with a Sharpie and acrylic paint.
Which all adds up to lots of tasty art goodness.
Without the trans fat.
