Dude on Corner #1: What’s this? A restaurant open for dinner in the Design District? Are you sure this place is legit?
Dude on Corner #2: Says right there on the sign: Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink.
DoC1: You can’t believe a name, man. Gotta read the fine print, you know?
DoC2: Fine print? It’s Michael Schwartz. Dude was chef/owner of Nemo, then chef at Afterglo. Now he’s opened his own place, and everything on the menu’s, well, genuine: fresh-squeezed juices at the bar, homemade sodas, pasta, fries, rabbit terrine …
DoC1: Oh, good. Hate commercial rabbit terrine.
DoC2: Your mom hates commercial rabbit terrine. It’s important to use natural, organic, and local products, and Schwartz tries to use all three in his dishes. Like the grass-fed lamb with apricots; the pizzas topped with exotic mushrooms, cave-aged Gruyere, and truffle oil; and the daily homemade noodles. You might have to order one of everything.
DoC1: Aren’t you ambitious?
DoC2: Hey, just keeping it real.
