You went to New York and all you got was a lousy Wicked T-shirt (from a street vendor: The show was sold out ’til 2015).
Nuj Novakhett, on the other hand, went to New York, got into Parsons School of Design, and is premiering her fourth collection this season.
Born and raised in Thailand, Novakhett traveled to the Big Apple for what her parents thought was a one-year American jaunt. Four years and one fashion degree later, the young designer is now officially “emerging,” impressing the style-conscious with her sophisticated, feminine pieces that have architectural twists.
Garden party meets Frank Gehry in a strapless, sea foam green linen dress layered with loops of fabric — Novakhett’s updated version of the traditional pleat — and Easter Sunday meets Christo in a Pepto pink and black eyelet bubble dress with a sexy crisscross back and a high waist.
Leaving you in an empire state of mind.
