Shoe Be Do Be Do

J. Fishkicks Opens

get your fishkicks!

Twenty-something years ago, a place to put a spare quarter on your tennis shoes was innovation at its highest — until someone decided that what we really needed was a pump to help us, um, do what, exactly?

Never one to jump at the latest sneaker trend, you’ll want to tread on over to J. Fishkicks, which opens today. Owner Jason Fishbein started selling custom kicks out of the back of his Buick, using his University of Miami dorm as a stockroom. Just a few years later, he’s got his first storefront in SoFi.

The high-end boutique sells 50 custom pairs, including one created by sneaker design house Sole Junkie featuring Tito Puente, one by Australian artist Sekure decorated with Japanese koi, and one designed by Miami Ink tattoo artist Chris Garver.

We’re so pumped.

J. Fishkicks, 225 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach (305-535-1715 or jfishkicks.com).
