The Royal Treatments

Cheap Beauty Guide

pretty, pretty princess!

The mirror on the wall said you’re looking more beast than beauty.

Here are some treatments you can afford on a dwarf-sitting budget.

Cinderella
Between scrubbing floors and washing dishes, Cindy’s hands were pitiful, so she asked her godmother for a trip to Pretty Nails (9264 Southwest 40th Street, South Miami; 305-553-1553). A manicure and spa pedicure (complete with moisturizers, massage chair, and scrubbing) is just $22 at the unpretentious spot. Map It

Rapunzel
Ugh, that hair. She desperately needs a trip to Van Michael Salon for a session with a New Talent stylist. Haircuts are $35-$42, a fraction of the regular price. Fear not, professionals are on hand to make sure her do stays long enough to climb.

Sleeping Beauty
She awoke to unruly brows. But over the river and through the woods she found Betty of Elisa Beauty and Barber Salon (8338 Southwest 40th Street, South Miami; 305-480-9899). Hidden in a closet-size room in the back of the barbershop-cum-nail salon, Betty tweezes and waxes brows to ball readiness — for a mere $10. Map It

Snow White
The poor thing’s skin dried out in that glass box. She needs a facial at Lauren’s Face the Day (31 Almeria Avenue, Coral Gables; 305-448-9400). The hour-and-a-half session comes with a steam, extractions, a refreshing mask, and mini massage. Despite its fancy address, the humble spot charges only $65. Map It

It seems fairy tales do come true.
