Glass Slipper

Glue Cinderella Ballet Flats

Once upon a time in a faraway land called the Design District, there was a beautiful maiden who wanted to go to a ball.

But she worked in marketing and times were tough.

Luckily, her fairy godmother arrived with shoes from Glue Cinderella. A modern take on the glass slipper, the flats are a collaboration between furniture designer Kartell and Italian fashion line Normaluisa.

The plastic shoes came in opaque or transparent versions in solid colors or two-tone (pairings include orange on blue and white on red) — and all had a peekaboo slat at the back of the ankle.

At the ball, the prince went nuts for the playful ballet flats and asked, “What’s next for the line?” The maiden told him that the fall collection was all jazzy metallics.

Then she left, wondering if he was a little light in the loafers.

Available at Kartell, 155 Northeast 40th Street, Design District (305-573-4010).
