Sometimes you just want a neighborhood restaurant. A homey nook that only you know about.
Well, have we got the place for you. Sike!
The much-anticipated Mr. Chow, opening softly tomorrow in the W Hotel, is sure to follow in the sceney footsteps of the Beverly Hills and New York locations.
Diners don’t enter the long narrow space, they descend down a staircase and walk the blue runway, er, carpet (allowing others to admire their ensemble). A stunning gold chandelier with millions (approximately) of Swarovski crystal-encased dangling lights hangs more than twenty feet overhead.
Other places to see and be seen: the bar (with its own menu), curtain-swathed outdoor cabanas, and two private rooms (indoor and out).
And, of course, there’s Mr. Chow’s famous Chinese food (think soup-filled dumplings, spicy prawns, crispy duck) and a nightly noodle-making show.
Consider it our little secret.
Mr. Chow, in the W South Beach, 2201 Collins Avenue (305-695-1695 or mrchow.com).
