The Art of Beeing

Fire Lady's Homemade Honey

To bee or not to bee: That was the question.

And Fire Lady (a.k.a. Marcie Davis) answered it.

Now a glass artist, she missed her old job as a beekeeper and knew her Miami property possessed all the buzz-friendly requirements: fruit trees, sunshine, and flowering vines. Plus nothing had ever been sprayed. So she contacted other keepers and offered to be a foster mother for hives.

Now Fire Lady harvests honey three times a year from the fourteen hives that live in her backyard and sells her blends along with mixtures from other local beekeepers.

Varieties include citrusy orange blossom, intense avocado lychee, fresh tropical wildflower, and subtly sweet (and rare) saw palmetto. In winter, she gets a small amount of golden honey, which has a hint of Brazilian pepper. And, since they’re raw and unfiltered, they contain minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants.

A lot of buzz from one small Hamlet.
