Your workouts are all about pushing buttons (select playlist, start up cardio machine, channel surf between Real Housewives and CNN).
Not so at CrossFit North Miami Beach, a back-to-basics gym and training program opened by friends Stephen Gibb (son of the singer, Barry) and Jonas Grabarnick.
No ellipticals here. Instead CrossFit takes things old school (imagine Rocky training in Russia). One-hour sessions begin with a twenty-minute warm-up (they say “warm-up” — we say “ass-kicking”), followed by intense interval training (incorporating tools like rings, barbells, rowers, and ropes), and then a relief-flooding cooldown.
Hit the gym on your own, and you’ll get a guided workout — or opt for one-on-one training. Both require 100 percent exertion, whether you’re a marathoner or a couch potato.
No ifs, ands, or buttons.
