Put the “I” back in Christmas with our luxury picks.
Shabby chic is just plain shabby. Jazz up your digs with the Bourgie baroque table lamp from Kartell. Made of transparent polycarbonate, it’s a cheeky spin on a classic crystal lamp. Don’t put it on Ikea furniture. Jonathan Adler’s new Bond desk is a snazzy piece of light burled wood and Lucite. If you’re one of the chosen, celebrate in style with a white porcelain dreidel with brightly colored Hebrew letters or a blue enameled, hexagon-shaped menorah set.
New York fashion designer Anya Ponorovskaya’s recently opened her eponymous Design District boutique. Go ’50s glam with a retro cowl-neck wool coat (in red, yum) or a reversible silk boatneck dress. One word: Louboutin. The new Design District digs look like a high-end gallery complete with shoe art. The Webster has an exclusive on Ana Khouri jewelry. Warning: The Brazilian designer’s stunning heart-shaped gold choker may make you tear up.
Baby and the Bath Water
Splurge on fancy eye cream like Crème Ancienne from Fresh. Handmade in a Czech monastery, the emulsion-based tincture costs a pretty penny but really smoothes lines. Moroccanoil shampoo makes your hair behave well and gives off a delicate coconut scent (available at Salon Vaso). Blend a drop of Zarvis London’s lavender and basil bath and body oil with the sea water bath mixture to create a Zen-like tub experience (both at Brownes & Co.).
Eat Your Heart Out
Local bakery Lovely Daze is putting out artisanal Parisian macaroons. The delicate almond cookies come in a variety of shades, including lime green (pistachio) and pink (rose petal). Swing by Fratelli Lyon to pick up a gourmet chef favorite like Santa Chiara extra-virgin olive oil. The decadent dulce de leche spread from The Cheese Course begs to be smeared on Fromager d’Affinois.
And for Christ’s sake, share it with friends.
Luxury means having lots of options. Check out today’s ShopTalk gallery for patent leather slippers, a chandelier umbrella, and scrumptious stone crabs (delivered right to your door).
