But it landed Valentina Ramos gigs with Target and Urban Outfitters. The local graphic illustrator’s colorful scribble paintings — a combination of intricate dots and swirls — now grace a collection of affordable home goods, including fabric, place mats, pillowcases, and iPhone covers (wallpaper and bedding to follow soon).

The Venezuelan transplant describes her work as “original and uplifting,” and we couldn’t agree more. Owls, cows, and birds (drawn by hand, then digitally reworked) are whimsical and vibrant and complemented by glass-half-full mantras like “Something good is going to happen.”
