Coconut Grove

A little town unto itself, the neighborhood has an odd mix of eccentric old hippies and rowdy college kids. Residents take pride in the unique architecture and sidewalk fairs. Crowds flock to the shops and restaurants along CocoWalk.

EXPLORE ANOTHER NEIGHBORHOOD:

Ideas Restaurant

2833 Bird Ave

Escape the megachains that make up the Grove’s culinary scene at this classy, white-tablecloth establishment. The food — from the Castilla y Leon region — is noteworthy, as is the wine list.

KoKo & Palenki

3015 Grand Ave 305-444-1772

Shoes, glorious, shoes! The shop has four locations and a huge selection, including old friends like Tory Burch, Dani, and Badgley Mischka. Plus jewels, bags, and clothes.

The Taurus

3540 Main Hwy 305-444-7949

The burger joint housed in a cottage reopened after a seven-year hiatus. Now serving truffle fries aside ten-ounce patties. There’s also a Friday happy hour and live music in the rustic space.

The Bookstore in the Grove

3399 Virginia St 305-443-2855

Not too big, not too small, the independent bookstore has a bit of everything: a cafe stocked with carbs and caffeine, a lounge with plenty of cushioned seating, and, of course, books galore.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

10901 Old Cutler Rd 305-667-1651

All the wild, colorful, exotic flowers you could hope to see, as well as a rotating selection of art exhibits. Check out the calendar for events like the International Chocolate Festival.
