We get this sort of call a lot. A friend has a friend who makes these to-die-for whatnots, and they’d make the perfect DailyCandy item.

So we were pretty skeptical when we got a call about some cashmere slippers. Thought, been there, done that. But like good scouts, we went to check them out.

It was there, sitting at a cafe, that we met Samantha Goldberg, the founder of Alvin & Sparky, a line of cashmere accessories.

And we fell in love.

There were slippers, all pretty with bows. And scarves, sewn with patchwork designs. And then… there were the puppies. Puppies! The cutest, softest saggy-eared creations—just dying for a home. (Never mind that they didn’t require walking.)

Now they’re all the rage among the Conde Nast girls. (“Can I have one?” yelled one Glamour writer. “I want one for my nephew!” squealed a Vogue editor. “I want twenty to give as Christmas presents!” yelled the one with the very deep pockets.)

So, they’re hard to get one’s paws on. But Sam is sewing as fast as she can, and has saved a stash for DailyCandy subscribers in need of some TLC.

After all, they say it’s going to be a long, cold winter…
