Some people are just born with good taste.
Last week, we brought you the sandwich stylings of I8NY’s Jonathan Meyer. This week his sister, designer Mary Meyer, is up to something just as savory: Her new studio and store (“a self-styled clubhouse and fun zone”) just opened in Brooklyn.
Long celebrated for her graphic prints, comfortable silhouettes, and accomplished hipster status, Meyer keeps her first brick-and-mortar location clean with whitewashed walls, wrought iron and wooden shelving, and the occasional folding chair.
On the racks you’ll find dip-dyed maxidresses and cropped tees, gelatin silver printesque tanks, and Rorschach-patterned Cook & Gates totes from her latest collaborations. Her summer collection (shredded festival tanks, crinkle-print bodysuits, paper bag-waist shorts) is priced ($52-$141) to make way for fall goods.
Meyer shares the shop with vintage seller Bogart & Moore and Shoe Market (look for custom-painted Keds and Soludo espadrilles) and plans to host art and music shows.
