We’re still bouncy from our latest blowout and feeling anything but neutral about Fashion Week’s nude nails. To keep you on top of your game, here’s our guide to the best beauty and wellness bets this fall.
STREAMLINE
Sweat, push, and balance away extra pounds at the just-opened SLT (Strengthen Lengthen Tone). Health guru Amanda Freeman’s studio is the first in NYC to use Sebastien Lagree’s resistance machines and method (responsible for all those hard bodies in L.A.). Beware the mermaid crunch; you’ll be sore (in a good way) for days.
When the gym isn’t enough, the hyaluronic acid extracted from silver tremella mushrooms in Tracie Martyn’s Resculpting Body Serum is a control top in gel form.
RESURFACE
Flush out what summer left in your pores with aesthetician Andrea DeSimone’s hydrating, antioxidant-rich milkweed oil facial. Our skin was free of redness despite going through the works (two lymphatic drainage massages, double yogurt cleansing, mask, steam exfoliation, extractions, and cold globe rolling).
BE PRODUCTIVE
Slide up to the custom color mixing bar at Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’s first brick-and-mortar shop, opening in one week on the Lower East Side. Nonblenders can still enjoy the brand’s full line of vegan lip tar, high-pigment eye shadows, airbrush foundation, and nail polishes.
Superlative Aussie skin care brand Aesop finally puts down roots in NYC. Scoop up antioxidant-packed salves and creams (we’re fans of the parsley seed toner and sage shampoo) at the tiny Nolita outpost (the first of three stores to open this fall).
Malin + Goetz’s new Neroli hand + body lotion kicks ash. We suggest a bottle for your desk and one for your bathroom to cover dry hand, elbow, and leg emergencies.
EAT RIGHT
Kick the chicken-soup-as-medicine concept up a notch with meal delivery from Tricia Williams. Whether you’d like to target a specific issue (acne, allergies, weight) or are just looking for a nutritional jump-start, she’ll remake dishes you love (lasagna, chocolate chip cookies) using powerful superfoods and fresh, local ingredients.
TREAT YOUR FEET
Last we checked, open-toe booties are still happening. Stay in step with Tenoverten’s revamped custom pedicure. They’ve added an anise Nontoxique herbal scrub to quickly remove dry skin and a potent callus remover from Be Natural to tackle the really gnarly bits.
