Our New Favorite Pants Are Washborn Throwback Denim

Jeans with American Seoul

washborn denim!

The U.S. of A. Where country singers are Canadian, baseball players are from the Dominican Republic, and American Idol comes courtesy of a Brit.

Show your inverse patriotism with Washborn jeans, a mod new line direct from Korea.

Inspired by Seoul’s unapologetic street style, designer Min Jung Lee’s pared-down punk bottoms are cut from high-quality denim milled in Japan and Korea. Tight-fit skinnies stretch, while straight legs feature minimal rear-pocket stitching and a midrise that squeezes and lifts. Throwback silhouettes (stovepipe, bell bottom) and washes (acid, black) round out the offerings.

A red-and-white-striped pleated trouser is surprisingly flattering, but if you really want pants with pizazz, go for video-game-graphic wool harem sweats. We tried on the lot and suggest you order up one or two inches.

Vanity sizing, as it turns out, is strictly American.

Available at Babel Fair, 260 Elizabeth Street, between Houston and Prince Streets (646-360-3685 or babelfair.com); online at karmaloop.com, $44-$100.
